Boynton Beach and Delray Beach dental patients, who have come to know Dr. Jamie J. Alexander through his family dental practice, have learned firsthand about the personalized attention he gives them and the time he takes to inform them fully. The treatments they receive have had excellent results. So, when they decide they want to invest in improving their smile with elective treatment, they turn first to him for advice.
Fortunately for them, he has considerable training and experience in smile planning and cosmetic dentistry. And, should a patient need the services of a specialist, perhaps, for orthodontics, Dr. Alexander is well connected through the local dental society and numerous study clubs in our Boynton Beach and Delray Beach communities to make excellent referrals.
His kindness and direct advice are appreciated and trusted. His overall objective is to help patients meet their smile goals in a way that is consistent with preserving or restoring oral health, and in a way that minimizes the need for more extensive treatment over the patient’s lifetime.
Tooth colored composite fillings — Dr. Jamie Alexander uses only tooth-colored resin to fill teeth. This is a mercury-free composite that can be color matched with the enamel of your tooth. Older silver amalgam fillings can be replaced with composite fillings. If a silver amalgam filling is large, the tooth may need to be crowned to preserve its longevity and give you the unblemished tooth appearance you desire.
Dental veneers — This type of dental treatment is relatively simple, fast, and strengthens teeth. Thin porcelain veneers are bonded to the fronts of teeth to aesthetically optimize their shape, size and color. With veneers, minor gaps between the front teeth can be closed without the use of orthodontics.
Porcelain crowns — Today’s dental porcelains are of such great strength and natural appearance that they provide the longest lasting beautiful results possible when teeth need to be crowned and when older crowns are in need of replacement. Older crowns may need to be replaced due to wear or because the margins become unsightly due to gum tissue receding around them. Porcelain crowns have the advantage of not having a metal substructure that will cause a dark margin to appear in the future. Yes, today’s all-porcelain crowns are superior to older porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM) crowns you may have had in the past.
Porcelain inlays and onlays — Cast fillings (inlays) and partial crowns (onlays) can be made of porcelain in a dental laboratory. Although more expensive than composite restorations, these restorations last longer and look the most like natural enamel.
Dental bleaching (tooth whitening) — Dr. Jamie Alexander offers in-office professional teeth whitening that takes about an hour, and he offers custom fitted, lightweight bleaching trays for take-home bleaching. Bleaching in the dental office provides fast, safe treatment. Custom bleaching trays with recommended bleaching gel enable you to most effectively maintain your brighter smile with a periodic series of applications.
Composite bonding — Tooth-colored dental resin can be applied to the surface of a tooth and shaped to lengthen worn teeth and cover imperfections such as chips and intrinsic stains that cannot be removed with dental bleaching. This is a relatively low-cost treatment but is not as durable or lifelike as treatment with porcelain veneers, crowns, inlays and onlays.
